The mission at North Central College is to #ExceedYourPersonalBest. I chose to pursue my graduate degree and work with the Office of Student Involvement, which in turn allows me to supervise a diverse group of students. I work with the Marketing Interns, the Association of the Commuter and Transfer students, Orientation, as well as students who work at the heart of campus. I have made it my goal to help them grow, not only as students, but also as professionals. It’s also fun exploring my graphic design projects on the side.
As one of the most memorable days in your collegiate years, Orientation starts off every piece of excitement. Everyone has to go through it! Towards the end of my first year as a Graduate Assistant, our world was hit with the Covid-19 Pandemic. That did not stop our team from wanting the best experience for our incoming students, even if it became a Virtual Orientation. Alongside the guidance of my supervisor, I was able to spearhead an unforgettable experience for incoming students through graphic based projects. Want to check it out?
The Student Involvement Bootcamp gathers students to better prepare for the school year with their respective organizations. We provide the tools and resources to help ensure the success of their goals. I created a video that showcases the student perspective below.
These are a few promotional materials I designed to grow the brand for The Office of Student Involvement. We value our students and always strive to create opportunities for them to #GetInvolved on campus and and with the community.
The newsletter has been an ongoing project since we implemented A/B Testing to collect data to properly understand the behind the scenes of it. By using the school’s new brand colors, I have developed a few easy-to-use templates (on the first slide), increased the open and click rates within a few months and provide the North Central community with a fresh way to promote the their events and social media.
The second slide showcases the old style newsletter too much information with a never-ending scroll.
The opportunities that North Central has created for me will forever be something I cherish. I’ve been able to work with diverse student leaders, explore other forms of marketing communications and implement ways to strengthen our engagement on The Office of Student Involvement social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook.
I’ve loved the experiences so far, especially working with the community. Want to know more about my philanthropic adventures?
P.S. Interested in seasonal landscape photos I’ve taken at school?
While I’ve grown so much as a Graduate Assistant, I also wanted to showcase some work that I did as a student in one of my favorite classes. The class was focused in our multicultural world, so we did assignments based on impactful people in the Black community through history. These are some of the infographics I created! (And I did them all with our new school’s brand colors!)
